One Open WiMAX solutions from WiChorus and Other ODM Vendors

WiChorus (News - Alert) has announced successful interoperability testing with top Taiwanese Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) like Alpha Networks, III, and Tecom.
 
Headquartered in San Jose, California, the company is a provider of Intelligent Wireless Core Platforms for WiMAX and Long-Term Evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) networks. This illustrates the power of an open ecosystem, where mobile operators can have more solutions at a cost-effective price. WiChorus’ investors range from Redpoint Ventures, Acer (News - Alert) Partners to Mayfield Fund.
 
Rehan Jalil, CEO of WiChorus said, “WiChorus and its One Open WiMAX partners are working to transform a traditionally closed wireless core into an open, horizontal model that spurs innovation and competition and provides more choices for carriers.”
 
Their Intelligent ASN Gateway (News - Alert) and Home Agent for WiMAX have demonstrated inoperability with Alpha Networks, III, and Tecom, using their advanced service and subscriber management, service aggregation, content management and network optimization. These vendors have joined the WiChorus Access Service Node (ASN) Gateway solution and the One Open WiMAX initiative. This system has a single open R6 boundary line between base stations. ASN is based on the WiMAX Forum's (News - Alert) Network Working Group (NWG) specification.
 
Alpha Networks, a networking ODM/OEM vendor and Tecom, a supplier of ODM/OEM networking equipment have successfully completed this interoperability test for optimized for service delivery with the WiChorus ASN Gateway and Home Agent solution.
 
Douglas Hsaio, president of Alpha Networks said, “We offer customers the flexibility to build out their infrastructure in a cost-effective fashion. Through our partnership with WiChorus, we believe we have enhanced our value proposition to customers.”
 
Dr. C.K. Liu, chairman of Tecom, added, “Tecom and WiChorus provide customers with proven, interoperable WiMAX solutions. Together, we offer our International customers the flexibility to choose best-of-breed products when deploying their networks.”
 
III brought innovative information and communication technology into Taiwan's marketplace. They believe that a lesser product development time, and consequently its time to market, is what gives added value to their customers.
 
Dr. Pao-Chung Ho, vice president and general director of III's Networks and Multimedia Institute (NMI) said, “By working with WiChorus, we can create a vendor-neutral environment that encourages companies to work together to create more efficient networks.”
