C4L: C4L Launches Brand New Wholesale Data Back-up Solutions

Bournemouth-based connection and data storage specialist C4L
(previously called Connexions 4 London') launched a brand new national
data back-up solution on July 1st 2008 that is up to 1/10th the cost of
some of its competitors.
C4L is unique in that virtually every major UK data centre is on its
own multiple 10 Gigabit network. This means that there are no charges
for bandwidth for data centre customers, making it amongst the most
cost-effective back-up storage services in the UK. The service is
available at fixed wholesale cost of GBP100 per month per 1000
Gigabytes (1 Terabyte), with no upfront set up charges. The service is
scalable up to multiple Petabytes (1 petabyte = 1,024 Terabytes or
1,048,576 Gigabytes) of storage for customers. For additional security,
the data can be backed-up at a second site for a small additional cost.
All solutions are a minimum of RAID 6; and storage solutions are
provided in premium tier 2+ data centres.
Managing director Matt Hawkins says backing-up data off-site is
essential in case organisations suffer from hardware failure, fire or a
natural disaster. A loss of data can be fatal for businesses with over
4 in 10 companies folding after suffering a major loss of computerized
data. In addition, 34% of companies fail to test their tape back-ups;
of those that do, 77% have found tape back-up failures. We have found
many of our clients using tape back-up solutions find them difficult to
manage and more prone to errors, which is why we set up this service. '
